Skate Buying Basics

Before you purchase a pair of skates from Yinz Skate we ask each of you 4 questions.  The answers to these questions helps us find the right skate for you.  Taking the time to ask these questions upfront reduces the amount of time talking about or showing you skates that you do not want or are not within your budgetary requirements.

Please take a few moments and answer the following questions:

  1. How often are you planning on skating?
  2. What Type of skates do you want to purchase?
  3. What type of skating style are you doing or planning to learn?
  4. What is your budget range for a new pair of skates?

If you are not sure how to answer the questions here are some things to consider for each question

Monthly, weekly, or multiple times during the week

  1. What Type of skates do you want to purchase?
    1. Quad
      1. Derby/Speed/Jam skate
      2. Artistic Skate
    2. Inline
      1. Fitness Inline
      2. Slalom/Touring
      3. Hockey
  2. What type of skating style are you doing or planning to learn?
    1. Session skating with your family or friends
    2. Jam skating
    3. Roller Derby
    4. Artistic Dance
    5. Artistic Figure

    7. Stop confusing me! I just want to skate in my own skates
  1. What is your budget range for a new pair of skates?

Modern roller skates costs range from about $60USD for poor entry level skates to over $1,500USD for custom world class skates.  A good rule of thumb to follow is that anything that is under the $250USD price can be a toy and will not perform as well for you.
